Actually, Out of Mana was an alliance of Rus Corp and Ladder to Hell. Ladder to Hell become inactive so you'll see only Rus Corp.

I started out on the european servers when I bought the game, then I switched over to the US servers since I couldn't understand a word beeing said in the All chat, nor could I find any english speaking groups. After the introduction of language-based districts, I changed back to EU along with my guild.

I have to say, I enjoy the european servers more than I enjoyed the US servers, since IMHO there's a lot less immature attitudes and flaming, probably because of the general lack of people. I've read trough the first to pages of this thread, and there I saw several people complaining that there were no people on the EU server, and this I do not understand. I have never had any troubbles finding a group there, allthough, finding a good group I admit is a lot harder.

Problem is, europe is not exactly on par with america/korea when it comes to PvP. One reason might be like others have mentioned before me, that a lot of good european players currently reside on the american server..

If you're talking about Tombs, then try International district.

Besides, you sound like you aren't a part of a euro community... Guess what, actually you are.
Also, look at the thread title. You left euro so you're the loser here.

I play during non primetime hours and I can assure you that finding a group outside your typical 6-11pm GMT timeframe is ridiculously hard on EU servers. Often there are barely enough people to form even ONE complete group - even in mission outposts. The fact that EU servers are now spread across at least 5 language districts didn't exactly help here, too (although the languange districts are a good idea for other reasons).

And that EU servers are "not exactly on par" with US or Korea in PvP is a nice understatement, too. I haven't seen Europe having favor in days now...

Baseline is... a lot of people saw that coming even before the game officially started. Why there is not a common US/EU zone is beyond me, to be honest.

The situation is still desperate. Terribly hard to find a group, people would sell their soul to Satan to pass Thirsty River or Dunes of Despair, which is near to impossible without a good grp.

My guild (us servers) is now ranked around 100...it took us 4-5 days to get there. When I'll be experienced enough and I'll have unlocked most of the skills/mods/runes on my account, I'll get back to EU to join a competitive european guild. I think european top guilds should be strictly linked, and in contact with each other. I were not surprised by the fusion of RusCorp with Ladder to Hell, that is the right way to win: even if we're less we could still be more organized and reach the top anyway.

I don't think situation will improve in the imminent future, and Arenanet would NEVER merge US with EU.

I too play out of primetime, usually from 6pm to about 5-6am (I have insomnia ) still I have no particular problems finding a group. Anyway, I do agree that the language districts made stuff harder, but at the same time, I think that more europeans playing on the US server swithced back to the EU server after the introduction of these districts.

And to add to the issue of europe never having favour, we *do* get favour, its just that the time is usually in the area of 2am-4am when we do, and it doesnt last long. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that everything is fine, and no one has any reasons to complain, but my guess is that until more european people starts playing on the EU server instead of the US server, or all europeans suddenly get mad skills, there's not much to do about the situation..

ahhh well...

I'm austrian and spend most of my time (well all of my time) in the english districts on the european server. I sometimes switch to the german districts and usually leave after a few seconds, since internet kiddie speak sounds that much more awfull if it's in your mother tongue..

I do have problems finding good PuGs from time to time and since I don't know anybody else who plays Guild Wars (all my office colleagues are WoW players) this can be a problem sometimes.. But then again, sometimes I meet one or two people in need of solving a quest that I allready did, then I'll take them by the hand and lead them through the land, explaining game mechanics to the newbies, showing them some sights the area has to offer and engage in idle chitt chatt, so I still get a lot of fun from the game

I could go and play on the american servers but I'm a firm and passionate believer in the european idea and so I think it would be somehow betraying my beloves mother continent just in favor of some ingame benefits. eventhough I have to say that I get better along with some americans than with most europeans...

Maybe once I start to seriously get into PvP I might change servers but I don't think so; I'd like to stay with my fellow europeans, eventhough that includes those loathsome germans...

The thing that annoyes me most is not the fact that it's hard to form a good group, which will work out eventually, i'm not hurrying through the game anyhow.. But I can't stand the people speaking all the Ukranian, Turkisch and other languages, where Martian would be easier to understand. We had to kick people from the guild and parties because they would only talk to each other, and only in their language.. very irritating if you ask me..

No, but the players can merge them by joining America.

Europe just got hosed. The only other language I speak and understand besides English is Spanish, but I'd have a hard time reading it and a harder time typing it correctly. In America, most of us speak the same language. In Korea, they all speak the same language. In Europe... hosed.

I read recently that ANet might be setting up a Phillipines server. That'll go over like a bull in a china shop.

EDIT: When the game first came out, I was actually upset that all of Europe got into one server. I thought it was unfair, because I've always heard that over there you guys all learn multiple languages (be nice. I've not actually met many Europeans. Even the people I deal with from France for work speak really good English). I figured Europe would own America and Korea. I'm sorry to see that is not the case. A third competitive faction would be nice.

European division is there to help the average 14 yrs old ENGLISH kid to find a grp and play some PvE, because he doesnt even know a word of FRENCH

I'm another Englshman in New York, so to speak. Initially, I changed because of lag problems on the European server, but have to admit, I haven't detected much change since going transatlantic - The game still runs smoothly right up to the point when I'm about to aggro a mob, then lags like crazy so I end up running into a wall getting pummelled to death on the odd occasion.

However, like it's been said, the whole WaW thing is very unbalanced. Yes, we do have HoH-competitive guilds fighting to get Europe in favour, and cause no end of frustration to America and Korea, but the longest I've experienced of Europe being in Favour is 8 hours. In comparison to the lengths of time that America and Korea have favour, that's a blip.

There are several great players in Europe, and several experienced FoW and UW participants, but if you've been down to ToA district 1 just as Europe gets in, and you've heard shouts on the public channel "Experienced UW team LFG monks, NO N00bS!!" for the n-th time, you have to wonder where a new player who would like to participate in these bonus maps will go. You think it's hard being a Necro or Mesmer and getting into a UW team? Try doing it in Europe! By the time you get in a group, Europe will have lost favour!

Nobody's whingeing that Europe are not good enough. There is a lot of potential, but the Europeans are slapped with the handicap of language barriers, low volumes of players and general inter-Eurpoean incompatibility before they even install the game.

I'd recommend the US servers to anyone feeling the frustration of having to wait a week just to access a region of the map. US players are the same mix of good and bad, just like you get in Europe. There will always be 14 year olds trying to get u83r-1337 items, scammers, idiots who use profanities and draw phalluses on the compass map, trading spammers and runners no matter where you go. The US just has more players and it's eaier to get a good experienced team and explore the UW/FoW and who can actually communicate in English than it is in the UK. Not finding enough players to join your PUG? Want to get some experience in UW? FoW? Want to get the same value for money out of the game as you would in other continents? Problem solved. Happy to stand outside the statue of Grenth wondering if you might be lucky enough this week to actually get in for once? Happy to team up with someone who's pidgeon English could mean that even simple commands during the Thunderhead Keep mission are misunderstood or misinterpreted? Happy with seeing ToPK either crawling with Tumbleweed or the scene of 101 spats and arguments? Stay in Europe.

Sod the "European solidarity" lark. Sod the "US servers for US players only" mentality, and above all, sod the WaW! It's a nice idea, but implemented in such a way that it discourages and descriminates players purely from where they live.

Just a bump aswell.

I finally gave up and changed to America.

I'm Spanish but never use the spanish districts since they are utterly empty and can understand english good enough (even l33t sometimes)

The reasons?.
I'm actually playing 2 chars.

A Monk that is waiting to get into UW FoW. Been there just 2 times so far and I'm waiting since 2 days. The last time we get into at midnight and just gave up when failed one difficult mission. We new it was really difficult, but it was already 2 am, and ppl has to wake up early and go to work.

A Ranger that although spamming once and again in the 3rd mission 1 hour long couldn't find anyone that would take me to the mi+bonus. Finally decided to take the henchmen, but not knowing the bonus and finding henchmen deadly boring (it's my 4rth char) i have decided to change to America aswell, hoping to get easyer PUG-s.

I'd recommend any American just to change districts and see what's happening before saying "Europe sucks".

... and yes, Europe sucks .

my 2 cents.

Way more? Sigh. Yes of course, maybe twice as much, meaning an increase from like 1-2 hours a day to 2-4 hours a day. And only late at evening or after midnight. Players with a regular job, and those who go to school again will never see Europe having the favor unless they stay up in the weekends. I would almost BEG Korea and America: PLEASE... Stop battling for the Favor between midnight and 8 am (local time) to give at least Europa a fair chance to gain Favor at normal times...
